Backlight Conveyors help make assembly more efficient at Byrne Electrical

Design World magazine recently highlighted a QC Conveyors system that helps Byrne Electrical assemble electrical outlets quickly and efficiently.

Nine of the conveyors (out of 28 total) have backlights built into the frame that provide contrast for a vision system to identify properly shaped/separated parts and guide a robot to pick them up.

The automated system, built by Criterion Manufacturing Solutions, freed 10 employees to work in other parts of the plant. “We went from four or five different part handoffs to zero handling of the completed part … and much higher end-product quality,” said Byrne Engineer Dan Wierenga.
